Information about the university
```htmlAnglo-American University (AAU) is one of the oldest private universities in the Czech Republic, located in the heart of Prague. Established in 1990, it was founded with the vision of creating a truly international educational environment that bridges European and American academic traditions.
The university was originally called “The American College in Prague” and was among the first educational institutions that emerged after the Velvet Revolution, which brought significant political and social changes to Eastern Europe. In 1998, the institution was officially registered as a university and adopted the name Anglo-American College. In 2000, it was accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, affirming its commitment to providing high-quality education.
In 2006, the institution was renamed to Anglo-American University, reflecting its broadening academic mission and expanding degree offerings. Since its inception, AAU has aimed to provide an English-language education, thus making quality higher education accessible to students from around the globe, with a curriculum modeled on the American liberal arts tradition.
Today, AAU is comprised of five schools: the School of Business Administration, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of International Relations and Diplomacy, School of Journalism, Media and Visual Arts, and the School of Law. The university prides itself on its diverse faculty and student body, with students coming from over 80 different countries.
AAU has established itself as a reputable institution in Central Europe, recognized for its strong academic programs, small class sizes, and personalized teaching approach. Its dedication to experiential learning and fostering critical thinking skills prepares students for success in an increasingly globalized world.
The university's campus is located in a historical Baroque palace, offering a unique and inspiring learning environment. Additionally, its location in Prague allows students to experience the cultural and historical richness of the city, providing an unparalleled setting for both education and personal growth.
