Информация о вузе

The American University Prague, also known as Anglo-American University (AAU), is the longest-running private university in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1990 shortly after the Velvet Revolution, a period marking the end of communist rule in Czechoslovakia. The university has its origins rooted in the desire to create educational institutions that matched Western standards, reflecting the country's push toward democratization and global integration.

The university was initially set up to provide English-language courses, offering a unique opportunity within the region that attracted students from around the world. By blending American and European educational traditions, AAU has established a reputation for providing a multicultural and pragmatic educational experience.

AAU is located in the historic part of Prague, known for its beautiful architecture and vibrant culture, which enhances the students' educational journey with a picturesque and inspiring environment. The university occupies Thurn-Taxis Palace, a significant historical site that adds to the distinctive character of the learning environment.

Academically, the university offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, business, law, and international relations. These programs are taught in English, and they reflect the university's dedication to broad, interdisciplinary education and the fostering of critical thinking and communication skills.

Over the years, the American University Prague has made strides in forming international partnerships and exchange programs, enabling students to gain broader perspectives and skills that are increasingly important in our globalized world. To this day, AAU continues to emphasize the importance of diversity and cross-cultural understanding within its educational framework.

Prospective students and scholars are attracted to AAU due, in part, to its accreditation by the Czech Ministry of Education and international recognition by bodies such as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges - Senior College and University Commission in the United States, which attests to its commitment to maintaining high academic standards.
